Refund Policy

The Algorithms and Intelligence journal is committed to providing high-quality services for researchers, authors, and readers. We strive to ensure that all transactions related to the publication process are transparent and fair. The following Refund Policy outlines the circumstances under which refunds may be issued:

1. No Submission Fees:

  • Algorithms and Intelligence does not charge any submission fees. Authors are not required to pay any fees when submitting their manuscripts for review or publication. Therefore, there is no refund policy associated with submission fees.

2. Article Processing Charges (APCs):

  • The journal may charge Article Processing Charges (APCs) for accepted manuscripts to cover the costs of peer review, editorial handling, and publication. APCs are only invoiced once the manuscript is accepted for publication.

  • Refund Eligibility:
A refund for the APC will only be issued under exceptional circumstances, including:

    • Withdrawal Before Publication: If the manuscript is withdrawn before it is published online, a full refund of the APC will be issued.

    • Rejection After Acceptance: In the event of a manuscript being rejected after acceptance, and prior to final publication, a partial refund of the APC may be issued, based on the stage of the publishing process.

    • Duplicate Charges: If the author is inadvertently charged more than once for the same publication, a full refund will be issued for the additional charge.

3. No Refund After Publication:

  • Once an article has been published (online or in print), the APC is considered non-refundable. This includes cases where authors later request withdrawal or retraction of the article after publication.

4. Refund Process:

  • If a refund is deemed eligible, authors should contact the editorial office by email, providing the following details:

    • Manuscript ID and title

    • Reason for refund request

    • Proof of payment (if applicable)

  • Upon receiving the request, the editorial team will review the case and process the refund within 15 business days, depending on the circumstances and the stage of publication.

5. Refund Method:

  • Refunds will be issued using the same payment method used for the original transaction. If this is not possible (e.g., the author no longer has access to the original payment method), an alternative method will be discussed with the author.

6. Editorial or Technical Issues:

  • If the journal experiences any significant technical or editorial issues that prevent the manuscript from being processed or published, authors may be entitled to a full refund of any paid APCs. The journal will notify authors of such issues and work towards a solution, including issuing refunds where necessary.

7. Exceptions:

  • Refunds are not issued for issues that arise due to author-side mistakes or changes in circumstances, such as:

    • Author withdrawal after the article has entered the peer review or publication process

    • Author dissatisfaction with peer review feedback

    • Author changes their mind about publication after acceptance

8. Policy Review:

  • The Algorithms and Intelligence journal reserves the right to review and revise this refund policy periodically to ensure fairness and transparency. Any updates will be communicated to authors.
