Abstract

Environmental monitoring is crucial for tracking the health of ecosystems, managing natural resources, and addressing environmental challenges such as climate change, pollution, and biodiversity loss. The rapid growth of data from sensors, satellite imagery, and environmental databases has created an opportunity for data science to play a transformative role in environmental management. This paper explores the application of data science techniques, including machine learning (ML), data mining, statistical modeling, and predictive analytics, in environmental monitoring. By utilizing big data, environmental scientists can develop more accurate models, predict environmental changes, and improve decision-making for sustainable practices. The paper also discusses the challenges in integrating and analyzing diverse data sources, addressing issues of data quality, and the ethical implications of environmental data science. Finally, we highlight case studies that demonstrate the impact of data science on environmental monitoring and its potential for shaping future sustainability strategies.
